One look at the new BLU Lighter and you can see it’s like no other lighter! The cool exciting shape, the sine wave lid line and the "Z" pattern on the chimney are your clues that this is not your father’s Zippo lighter. Distinctive features of the new Zippo butane lighter include a smooth, comfortable shape, patented flint-wheel technology and a hot, blue flame.

Striking the wheel of the BLU lighter has a different feel than a traditional Zippo lighter. Just follow these easy steps:

• Push down on flint wheel mechanism using your thumb
• Continue to hold the wheel down, then rotate wheel to create a spark
• Continue to roll thumb downward and depress gas-release button
• Keep gas-release button depressed to maintain flame
• Use caution, flame is extremely hot

Yes. This is perfectly normal. The BLU Lighter is designed to extinguish unless the black button is depressed.

Yes. BLU, like our Windproof lighter, is shipped without fuel.

We recommend premium grade Zippo butane fuel. It’s easy to spot in stores – just look for the blue cap on the butane can. Fuel is also available right here at StudioShowroom.com. If you can not find Zippo Premium Butane, then only use other premium grade butane. The use of non-premium butane may result in poor performance and damage to your Zippo BLU Lighter and could void the guarantee.

No. There are no user serviceable parts inside. The lighter has a tamper proof screw holding the inside unit in. Removing that will void the famous Zippo Lifetime Guarantee.

• Do not attempt to remove insert
• Invert lighter
• Locate fill valve on lighter bottom
• Holding the BLU Lighter inverted (hold both the lighter and the butane can upside down) insert the nozzle of the butane can into fill valve on lighter bottom
• Depress nozzle 2 to 3 times using firm even pressure
• Check fuel level through viewing window on side of lighter
• Insure that more than 1/8" of fuel is visible (the lot numbers visible through the viewing window can serve as a guide)
• Allow 2 minutes after fueling before use

I added fuel but my BLU Lighter still won’t light.

• Make sure there is more than 1/8" of fuel visible through viewing window (the lot numbers visible through the viewing window can serve as a guide)
• Make sure no vapor lock has occurred in fuel tank See "What is vapor lock?" below
• Make sure there is a flint in the flint wheel cartridge
• Make sure the flint wheel cartridge is inserted properly. See "How do I install a new flint in my BLU Lighter?" below
• Follow operating instructions

Fueling frequency varies with usage, but 1 filling will last for approximately 300 to 400 hundred lights.

A patented flint-wheel technology developed especially for this lighter uses a rugged flint wheel with Zippo brand flint to produce a reliable spark.

• Do not attempt to remove the inside unit
• Pull flint wheel cartridge straight up
• Turn cartridge upside down and remove screw with thin coin or small screwdriver
• Remove any remaining old flint
• Insert a new flint in the tube
• For best results, use only Zippo brand flints
• Replace the screw in the flint wheel cartridge
• Tighten screw securely in place
• Replace flint wheel cartridge in lighter, lining up notched side of cartridge facing the burner and press firmly down

Flint should be replaced when it no longer creates a spark. A rule of thumb – you can usually refill the tank a few times before replacing flint.

The inside unit was designed to be removed only by Zippo authorized repair personnel. There is a tamper proof screw, There are no user-serviceable parts except for the flint wheel cartridge. Removal of the inside unit will void the warranty.

The flint wheel cartridge was designed to move up and down. This movement is normal.

Vapor lock occurs when air gets inside the sealed fuel chamber of the lighter. It can occur if the lighter and can are not inverted during the fueling process.

To remove vapor lock:

• Invert lighter
• Bleed excess air from the tank by depressing fill valve with tip of pen or point of knife or scissors
• Be careful when bleeding the lighter
• Point the lighter away from your face and any ignition source
• Refill with Zippo premium butane fuel or another premium brand of butane
