What makes the BLU Lighter so different from my traditional Zippo lighter?

One look at the new BLU Lighter and you can see it’s like no other lighter! The cool exciting shape, the sine wave lid line and the "Z" pattern on the chimney are your clues that this is not your father’s Zippo lighter. Distinctive features of the new Zippo butane lighter include a smooth, comfortable shape, patented flint-wheel technology and a hot, blue flame.

 

How do I light my BLU Lighter?

Striking the wheel of the BLU lighter has a different feel than a traditional Zippo lighter. Just follow these easy steps:

 

My BLU Lighter won’t stay lit unless I hold down the gas-release button. Is this normal?

Yes. This is perfectly normal. The BLU Lighter is designed to extinguish unless the black button is depressed.

 

Do I have to add fuel to my BLU Lighter when I first get it?

Yes. BLU, like our Windproof lighter, is shipped without fuel.

 

What fuel do I use in my BLU Lighter?

We recommend premium grade Zippo butane fuel. It’s easy to spot in stores – just look for the blue cap on the butane can. Fuel is also available right here at StudioShowroom.com. If you can not find Zippo Premium Butane, then only use other premium grade butane. The use of non-premium butane may result in poor performance and damage to your Zippo BLU Lighter and could void the guarantee.

 

Can I remove the inside unit of the BLU Lighter like the traditional Windproof lighter?

No. There are no user serviceable parts inside. The lighter has a tamper proof screw holding the inside unit in. Removing that will void the famous Zippo Lifetime Guarantee.

 

How do I refuel my BLU Lighter?

 

I added fuel but my BLU Lighter still won’t light.

 

How often do I need to fill my BLU Lighter?

Fueling frequency varies with usage, but 1 filling will last for approximately 300 to 400 hundred lights.

 

What makes my BLU Lighter spark?

A patented flint-wheel technology developed especially for this lighter uses a rugged flint wheel with Zippo brand flint to produce a reliable spark.

 

How do I install a new flint in my BLU Lighter?

 

How often do I need to replace the flint in my BLU Lighter?

Flint should be replaced when it no longer creates a spark. A rule of thumb – you can usually refill the tank a few times before replacing flint.

 

Why can’t I remove the inside part of my BLU Lighter?

The inside unit was designed to be removed only by Zippo authorized repair personnel. There is a tamper proof screw, There are no user-serviceable parts except for the flint wheel cartridge. Removal of the inside unit will void the warranty.

 

Is there a date code on the bottom of the BLU Lighter?

Yes. There will be a date code on the lighter bottom, just like our traditional windproof lighters. Click here to view date code information.

 

My flint wheel cartridge is wobbly. Is something wrong?

The flint wheel cartridge was designed to move up and down. This movement is normal.

 

What is vapor lock? How can I fix it?

Vapor lock occurs when air gets inside the sealed fuel chamber of the lighter. It can occur if the lighter and can are not inverted during the fueling process.

To remove vapor lock:
